Detecting Conspiracy Theories Online
Together with Mathias Angermaier, I gave a talk at Skeptics in the Pub Vienna on detecting conspiracy theories on social media using machine learning. The talk was based on our research project ORION (Orientation in Conspiration), where we analyze millions of Telegram messages to uncover patterns in how conspiracy narratives spread and gain popularity.
Skeptics in the Pub offers a casual, public setting to discuss science, society, and technology. The event allowed us to share our methods, explore the societal impact of conspiracy theories, and engage directly with the public. I also wrote an article for Skeptiker Magazin on conspiracy theories in digital environments, extending the discussion from our research to a broader audience.
